Connect Grok to 9Pic AI with a Custom Connector

If Grok is the assistant your team already uses, you can add 9Pic AI to it as a custom connector. After one sign-in, Grok can read your events, bring in photos from a shared folder, preview processing costs and publish the gallery when you say so.

Connect Grok to 9Pic AI: add one custom connector and manage event galleries from Grok

Server URL: https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp. It is the same 9Pic AI MCP server we described for Claude and Claude Code, so the tools and safeguards are identical. Only the setup screen is different.

Why connect Grok

Event days are busy. Photographers finish uploading late, a race director asks whether the gallery is live yet, and someone needs the processing count before the next batch. With the connector, those answers come from your 9Pic AI account inside the Grok chat you already have open, instead of a separate dashboard tab.

Grok works with the account and role you already have. It sees only the organisations and events your dashboard login can reach.

Add 9Pic AI as a custom connector

  1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
  2. Click New Connector, then select Custom.
  3. Enter https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp as the MCP server URL.
  4. When Grok opens the 9Pic AI sign-in page, sign in with your dashboard account and approve the access request.
  5. Start a chat and ask “List my 9Pic AI organisations.” Grok picks the 9Pic AI tools when your request needs them.

On Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin provisions custom connectors first. Ask your admin to add the same URL, then connect and sign in with your own 9Pic AI account.

A typical event workflow in Grok

  1. Pick the event. “Show my events in the Running Club organisation.”
  2. Check the plan. Grok reads your plan and credits so it can tell you about limits before it changes anything.
  3. Add photos. “Add this shared folder as a photo source and import the photos.” Sources are HTTPS shared-folder links.
  4. Preview processing. Grok shows how many photos will be processed and the credits that will use. You confirm, then it starts.
  5. Publish. “Publish the gallery.” Participants can now search it. “Move it back to draft” hides it again without deleting anything.
  6. Follow up. “How is the gallery doing this week?” returns estimated aggregate engagement, where your plan includes analytics.

What the connector will not do

  • It will not spend credits without a preview and your confirmation.
  • It will not buy credits, start a subscription or change your plan.
  • It will not pick an organisation for you when you belong to several. Grok asks.
  • It does not handle watermarks, branding or event location. Those stay in the 9Pic AI dashboard.
  • It does not return participants' photos or selfie search results to the chat.

If the connector does not respond

  • No sign-in page appeared, or no tools show up. Remove the connector and add it again with the exact URL, including /mcp at the end.
  • Grok asks which organisation to use. You belong to several organisations. Name the one you want in your next message.
  • Access expired. Reconnect 9Pic AI from the connectors page and sign in again.
  • Still stuck? Contact support with the time of the request and what Grok replied. We can trace it from there.

FAQ

Is this the same as the Claude connection?

Yes. One server, one account. You can connect Grok and Claude at the same time; each keeps its own sign-in, and both act with your permissions.

Do I need a developer account?

No. The connector uses your normal 9Pic AI dashboard login. API keys from the Developer Zone are for building your own apps on the 9Pic API, not for this connector.

How do I disconnect?

Remove 9Pic AI from grok.com/connectors. Grok loses access immediately.

What to do next

  1. Add https://mcp.9pic.ai/mcp as a custom connector in Grok and sign in.
  2. Ask for your organisations and choose the event you are working on.
  3. Run one import, preview and publish cycle on a test event before race day.
